Not something I thought I would ever say just a few years ago before I started to get healthy – I was strictly a white bread/rice kinda girl! Now I can’t get enough whole wheat stuff and the processed stuff makes me turn my nose up!
How Wheat Works is a great site I came across a few days ago, as the name suggests it aims to teach about how wheat works but in a fun way – it’s an interactive game that follows the process from farm-to-fork. You virtually grow your own kernels through four stages over four days and then decide what you want to make with it. I am currently at the stage of harvesting my wheat kernels. I have loads of friends who are hooked on farmville on Facebook that I am going to share the link with as I am sure they would really enjoy it!
The best thing is that for every person who signs up and participates the Wheat Foods Council are donating two pounds of flour to Operation Homefront, an organization that helps out US troops and their families in times of need.
So not only is it fun and educational to us, it’s actually really helping out people in need.
