When I weighed in on Wednesday I was 9.10 which was a gain of 2 pounds – I didn’t worry about it too much as my weight/scales can act up like that some times. Then I weighed myself on Sunday and the scale said 9.13!

Well, I initially freaked out but then I thought about and realised there was no way I had gained 5 pounds. I have not gained 5 pounds at any point throughout this entire weight loss journey and although I had not been working out due to being sick I had been eating very well so it was just not feasible.

Sure enough I weighed in last night and my weight was back down to 9.9, still a 1 pound gain which is not good news – but much more acceptable than a 5 pound gain.

I don’t know if my scales were broken or if I was somehow retaining water, but I am glad it was just a glitch

…how much I weigh right now. My scales seem to be on the blink, I only bought them at the end of last year I think.

I step on and they say one thing, step on again the same, step on again and they say 2lbs less, step on again and they are back up, step on again and I have gained 3lbs etc.

I have changed the batteries to see if that was the issue buy apparently not.

Last reading was 10.7, which would mean I lost 3lbs while I was away so I am pretty sure that is not accurate — given how naughty I was I would expect to gain 3lbs rather than lose it.

I am going to send them back, but for a scale obsessive such as myself this is very annoying.

Here’s what I realised yesterday, while I was wearing the size 14 pants I’d not been able to get into last month and slipping on the size 14 coat I haven’t worn in many years – who cares if I am not losing pounds at the moment, I am clearly losing inches. I need to be less obsessed with the pounds, I am sure they will start coming off again eventually.

I also have muscles, on my thighs and arms, for the first time in my entire adult life – which would go to further explain the no loss thing I am sure.

I am going to try and stop worrying about it, and just stick with what I am doing knowing that overall I am becoming healthier, and that’s what counts

I used to weigh in once a week, on a Sunday…then it slowly crept up to twice a week, on a Sunday and Wednesday…eventually it became three times a week, on a Sunday, Wednesday and Friday and now for the last few weeks I have been doing it literally every day.

I don’t think it’s healthy really to want to weigh in every single day — it also means if I do lose any thing it’s less exciting.

I need to reign myself in.

On Sundays weigh in I was 11.5, so I gained 2lbs in the three days I was off my diet — ouch — but really I am OK with that because I enjoyed myself and it only feels like a 1lb gain thanks to the 1lb loss, and I appreciated every single ‘naughty’ thing I ate.

The best thing is that I know I can jump straight back to being good as gold and working out every day. This time last year I was not ready to do that, I knew if I gave myself an inch I would take a mile but this year I feel in control enough to be able to splurge for 3 days and then go straight back

I think I have just been lucky though, and it’s a result of the shock to my body, because work out wise I am really struggling to get back into it — I have already skipped a few days since I have been home and I am having a hard time doing more than about 45 minutes.

I think I am probably just bored of the elliptical, I might have to switch it up.

Happy days, that 1lb that I gained and hoped would fall straight back of again…did do, along with another 1lb.

This means that for the first time in over 2 months I get to update my trackers! For those not following, that’s not because I have lost no weight in 2 months, I have been losing it really slowly lately but I also got some new scales which added 4lbs to my weight and I wanted to wait until it got back to where I was on the old scales before ‘counting it’ again.

I am not enjoying being away from my scales though, it’s been five days now since I weighed myself and that’s probably the longest I have gone without a weigh in in almost 2 years…and it’s still another 4 more days before I am home. Argh
