Only gained one pound

November 6th, 2008 Toria Posted in Off Topic No Comments »

So, I am now back home and I am pleased to report that I only gained a pound in the time I was away. Crazy to be happy about a weight gain huh? But really, it could have been a whole lot worse — it probably deserved to be!

Plus I am hopeful that that one pound will slink right back off again when I get back into being a 100% good girl, the shock to the system may do me well in the long term.

Tomorrow I am hopping back on that elliptical for the first time in two weeks, and to be honest I am not looking forward to it one little bit!

Weighing in tonight

November 3rd, 2008 Toria Posted in Healthy eating, Off Topic, Working Out No Comments »

I am headed home tonight, I have family coming back with me so I won’t be able to get 100% back to normal right away. But I will be hopping on the elliptical tomorrow and I will be weighing myself tonight, GULP, I am nervous as to how that’s going to go — I have not worked out at all in over a week and I haven’t exactly been good with my eating, I’ve had Subway 3 times, Curry twice and a Kebab….plus bits of chocolate here and there and plenty of crisps.

Need to find old school friends?

October 25th, 2008 Toria Posted in Off Topic, Success No Comments »

You know, when I see websites online that aim to help people track down old school friends — I realise how lucky I am in that at 28, I am still in touch with all the people from school that mean something to me. That’s not to say I wouldn’t be curious about others though, friends of friends, acquaintances — it’d be great to go to a reunion and just see what every one has been up to for the last 10 - 12 years!

At Myhometown-Schools.co.uk you can get in touch with old School Friends in Great Britain, and it’s totally free to join. Once you’ve found your own school you can discuss it on the message boards, upload photos and chat to people. Pretty neat :)

New killer boots!

October 19th, 2008 Toria Posted in Buzz, Off Topic No Comments »

I got some killer new boots, you like?

Killer Boots

Of course you do, they are hot! But why am I telling you about them here on my weight loss blog? What do boots have to do with weight loss?

Well, I had to try on several pairs before finally choosing these ones…and every single pair fit my formally ‘too fat for boots’ legs. Hurrah. I remember trying to buy some around a year ago and giving up dejected after a few pairs because none of them would fit my legs — from none fitting, to all fitting :)
It’s little triumphs like these that really keep me going, I lose weight at such a slow pace…especially lately…that it’s easy to feel like nothings happening. I need things like this to remind me that what I am doing is working, it really is :)

Going on a short trip in December!

September 6th, 2008 Toria Posted in Off Topic No Comments »

Woo, I just found out my fiance has booked us a night away in York the week before Christmas, we’re going to go shopping. Isn’t he lovely? Ok so it’s not a nice exotic getaway to somewhere like Mexico, it’ll be cold, wet and miserable in York in December no doubt, but it’s a cheap and cheeful short break and it’ll make me happy :)
If we do ever get to go somewhere more exotic like Mexico, then SeaSideMexico.com is going to be a site I remember to visit — they are a travel company with some stunning looking properties available to reserve in Rocky Point, including Baja California, San Carlos and Puerto Penasco reservations. So if you are planning a trip away, check them out :)

Zig Zag

July 31st, 2008 Toria Posted in Off Topic No Comments »

Thankfully that lb I gained..came straight back off again, I suspected it would :)
The consensus on the thread I started at Caloriecount.com was that I needed to change it up and try something new, having been doing the same thing for so long my body is probably just used to it. So, until Monday I am officially not counting calories for the first time in a year and a half, and I am not working out - freaky. Of course I am not going to go crazy and just stuff my face, but if I am a few 100 over my norm….oh well. As of Monday I will be zig zagging my calories, that is - eating a different amount each day, but still ending up with the same overall intake/deficit.

I hope to heck it works out for me, I am terrified of gaining weight.

Ticking along

June 27th, 2008 Toria Posted in Off Topic No Comments »

No more weight loss since I got back off holiday, but I am finally back into the swing of things I think - tonight I had what felt like an awesome work out, 400 calories in 40 minutes, sweating like a mad woman - felt great afterwards, don’t you just love it when you get those ones? I generally still hate working out, hate it, but sometimes I get really into it…wish I could have gone on longer but I had places to be! I am still on 1400 calories a day rather than the 1200 I had been on for a year previous to that.

I might be going away again for a few days at the start of next week though, which is a bit of bad timing, but that’s not decided yet - it’s my other halfs birthday so I feel I ought to go with him…but…meh. We’ll see we’ll see.

Hopefully my next entry will include a loss, I did some maths last night and it’s taken me 4 months to lose the last stone…ouch….why can’t it just drop off me like it seems to every one else? lol

Personalised Medical Alert necklaces

June 20th, 2008 Toria Posted in Healthy eating, Off Topic No Comments »

Around 10 years ago my mother discovered she had epilepsy, she suffered several attacks over the first few years and it was pretty scary stuff - thankfully now she no longer has the fits, she’s well passed the 4 years without point now and has been allowed to drive again for a good few years. Obviously we are all glad that it didn’t get worse or start to manifest itself in different ways.

She used to have to wear a talisman around her neck, informing of her condition and she hated it - mainly because it looked so ugly, she likes her nice jewellery does my mum so wearing this ugly clunky thing didn’t float her boat. If only we’d known about sites such as Universal Medical ID UK who sell personalised medical alert necklaces - they offer a wide variety of styles and customisation, so I am sure she’d be able to find something she’d actually want to wear :)

New York New York

June 3rd, 2008 Toria Posted in Off Topic No Comments »

A few days ago USA Network’s new original series In Plain Sight was brought to my attention, I thought that the premise of the show seemed great - it follows the life of Mary, a US Marshal in charge of all manner of people as they enter into the highly secretive witness protection program.

It made me think about what it’d really be like to have to go through that, and where I’d most like to get relocated to if I had to. It didn’t take me long to come to the conclusion it’d be New York City, aside from the fact it’d be pretty easy to get lost in such a big place - NYC is just so iconic, the skyline, the statue of liberty, Manhattan - I can’t imagine it’d be too hard to enjoy a new life there :)

Day one of ‘Step it up’ week.

April 18th, 2008 Toria Posted in Off Topic No Comments »

Day one of ‘Step it up’ week went well, I did 55 minutes on the elliptical and burned 505 calories…according to the read out on it (who knows how accurate that is?), it certainly helped that I was watching the finale of The Biggest Loser USA while I was doing it - thrilled to see Bernie take the at home prize, and glad a woman has finally won the title so that now maybe everyone can stop going on about it lol

Diet has been good, slight under eat of about 50 calories but I can live with that.

Total daily deficit = 1205

err…actually that’s not as good as I thought, I was aiming for 800 - 1000 per day, I must have been working it out wrong as I was going along because I thought I was right on target. Darn it. Will do better tomorrow.
